by Jamie Hale
Zach Even-Esh’s, The Underground Strength Coach, career has exploded over the past few years. In the following interview Zach shares with readers what he’s been up to and what is coming in the near future.
Tell readers about your certification program. How old is the program?
This is a 1 or 2 day mentorship and certification together. The Underground Strength Coach Cert & Mentorship has been cranking solid for 1 1/2 years.
People from ALL around the world come to NJ: Australia, Canada, England and all around the USA.
I am floored by the response and completely humbled.
My training system is covered, from what we do when a new athletes comes through the doors, to how we progress our athletes, how we design programs and our most focused movements and exercises.
Business systems are covered aggressively as well. I keep groups small, 15 or less, and this allows for individual attention and lots of Q&A.
We have about 75 certified instructors and now we are holding mentorships around the USA. Currently in NJ and Florida, but the next places on the map is the Seattle area and Pittsburgh area. I am psyched Take me through a day in your life, from the time you wake until bedtime.
NO alarm clock, I wake up to my kids jumping on my bed usually
Breakfast with the family and then it's work time. Sometimes I train in the morning then work on the Internet or filming, other times I am at home working.
Around 3 PM I head to the gym and run the gym from 4 until 8 PM. I get a workout in before or after the gym shuts down if I didn't train that day yet.
I'm home for a late dinner and spending the remainder of my time w/my wife and kids.
But, through the day, I take multiple breaks and spend that time with my family.
Sometimes I skip the day work and go for a day trip with the family.
It wasn't always like this.
I used to work as a teacher from 9 - 4 PM, then rush to the gym and work till 8 PM, then train till 9 PM. There were days when I didn't see my family!
It sucked BIG time and I worked my ass off to get to the point I am at now, but, I still work my tail off, except now, the work I do is what I love and I don't view any of this as "work". Favorite exercise?
TOUGH! Let me give a few of them: - squats - deadlift - clean and press with any training tool - chin-ups Favorite food?
Steak, although trying to get away from red meats Favorite exercise book?
Another TOUGH question, I really enjoy 'Secrets of Russian Sports & Fitness Training' Favorite nutrition book?
Haven't found any that intrigue me much yet, gonna delve into these more Do you have any new projects in the works?
Tons of new projects! Business projects, mindset projects, e courses... I am always working in a hectic manner, it's controlled chaos Who benefits from reading your work and applying your training principles?
Seriously, anyone. I talk more than just training; I talk success principles and life. You don't even have to be a fitness buff to get my message. Anyone who wants to achieve the life of his or her dreams should pay attention to me.
I've been in the dumps, and I clawed my way out, I wanna teach others how to do the same!
Thank YOU brother!
